We are hiring software engineers who enjoy solving important real-world problems and working close to hardware; who learn new domains quickly and prefer practical solutions over over-engineered systems or unnecessary complexity. You’ll work on projects best suited for you. Projects range widely and include scientific tools; automation and robotics (Linux and ROS level); Embedded C/C++ (typically owned by dedicated firmware engineers, but software engineers are welcome to learn); Linux, CUDA, and server engineering for AI safety, security, and verification work; custom simulation software (usually Python); data analysis pipelines (Python); organizational tooling (TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL). Location: Sheffield, UK; onsite or hybrid. Structure: Small teams of software, mechanical, electronics, and firmware engineers build end-to-end systems, typically shipping within a few months.
